A total shutdown has been planned in various communities on the Cape Flats this morning. These include Manenberg, Hanover Park, Langa, Gugulethu and Kesington. The shutdown is due to start at 5 O'Clock and last until 10 O'Clock. Organisers say it's a protest against rising poverty, crime and unemployment levels. Latest police crime statistics show that Nyanga on the Cape Flats has the highest murder rate in the contry, with over 300 murders committed in the area between April 2017 and March 2018.
